Privacy Policy

1. The short version

• Latch doesn't collect your personal information. We don't receive, store or sell it.
• There is no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Latch contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.
• Everything you set up in Latch is stored on your iPhone, and deleting it there deletes it.

2. What Latch stores on your iPhone

To work, Latch keeps the following on your device. None of it is sent to us.

• Your reason: the sentence you write about why you're using Latch, and a photo if you add one.
• Your windows: their names, days, hours, modes and the apps, categories and websites they block. What they block is stored as private tokens from Apple, not as app names.
• Your history: windows you kept or ended early, keys you spent and any note you wrote when spending one, graces used, streaks, and how many times a blocked app was opened.
• Your settings and setup answers, such as your goals, notification choices and appearance.
• Your home location, only if you turn on a location rule (see section 4).
• Your subscription status, as confirmed by Apple on your device.

3. Screen Time data

Latch uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity and Managed Settings) to block apps. You grant this access through an Apple permission screen, and you can turn it off in iOS Settings at any time.

• When you choose apps, Apple's picker gives Latch opaque tokens. Latch can't read which apps, categories or websites the tokens stand for.
• Usage charts in Insights are calculated and drawn by Apple's system on your device. Latch only learns whether a chart was shown, never which apps you used or for how long.
• When a blocked app is opened, iOS gives Latch's block screen the app's name so its button can say "Close" and the app's name. That name is used for that screen only; it isn't stored or sent anywhere.

4. Location

Location is optional and only used by the Pro location rules: starting a window when you arrive home, and pausing a window when you're far from home.

• If you turn one on, Latch asks for location permission and saves your home's coordinates on your iPhone.
• iOS then tells Latch when you enter or leave an area around home (about 150 metres and 60 kilometres). Latch doesn't keep a record of where you've been.
• Your location is never sent to us. You can turn location rules off in Latch, or remove the permission in iOS Settings.

5. Photos

If you add a photo to your reason, you choose it with Apple's photo picker, which gives Latch only the photo you selected. Latch doesn't get access to the rest of your library. The photo is stored on your iPhone.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Latch schedules them on your iPhone: a reminder before a window starts, a note when you keep one, a weekly review, and a reminder two days before a free trial ends. They are created on your device; nothing is sent through a Latch server.

7. Purchases

Latch Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and we never receive your payment details. Latch checks with Apple, on your device, whether you have an active subscription. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Latch may ask whether you'd like to rate it, using Apple's standard rating prompt. Anything you submit goes to Apple, not to us.

8. If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you, and delete it when it's no longer needed for that. Our email is provided by Google (Gmail), which processes messages under its own privacy policy.

9. Sharing

We don't share, sell or rent any information about you, because we don't have any. Latch doesn't include third-party software that collects data, such as analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools.

10. Backups and deleting your data

• Latch's data is part of your iPhone, so it may be included in the backups iOS makes to iCloud or to your computer, depending on your settings. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple.
• To delete everything, open Latch, go to You, and choose Erase everything. This also lifts any blocks.
• Deleting the Latch app also removes its data from your iPhone.
• Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

11. Children

Latch is made for people managing their own phone use. It isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, or to object to how it's used. Because your Latch data is stored only on your iPhone, you can see, change and delete it yourself in the app. We hold no copy to hand over or erase. 13. Changes to this policy

If Latch starts handling information differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
